Ok, so i know its been a while but I just found this one! the first book is called The Fire Within. Its about a college student/writer who's landlady makes clay dragons. When she makes David a dragon, it has a pencil and notepad in its paws, and suddenly he starts thinking of it constantly as it helps him write a story about a squirrel named Snigger! Could the clay dragons really be alive?
